Redland Church participates in the ministry of Operation Christmas Child (OCC) through the worldwide ministry of Samaritan’s Purse.
OCC partners with local churches and volunteers in more than 170 countries and territories to proclaim the Good News using gift-filled shoeboxes. They train and equip these partners with Gospel materials that help them communicate the message of God's love to boys and girls in a clear, consistent way. Using these colorful resources, churches evangelize their communities in ways that often would not have been possible without the accompanying shoebox gifts. Most shoebox recipients are also invited to participate in our follow-up discipleship program, The Greatest Journey, where they learn to follow the Lord and share Him with others. Redland Church has participated in this important ministry for more than a decade. More recently, we organize a packing party held in early November to prepare shoeboxes with donated items. Church members are invited to work throughout the year to prep what will be packed. Along with the packing party, individuals and families may choose to pack shoeboxes at home and bring them to church on the shoebox dedication Sunday. This ministry helps Redland Church fulfill its mission to “make disciples of all nations.” (Matthew 28:18)
